The New Religion of the Elect
John McWhorter continues his series of essays demolishing this new religion.
Comments on the Week - 2nd week of March 2021.
John McWhorter is doing yeoman’s work attacking the new religion of “The Elect” (his moniker). I agree with him completely. The modern-left in the USA and the UK are followers of a bad religion. The religion lacks a coherent statement of principles (like the Bible or the Sutras). The religion of the Elect lacks leaders who can say “this is true, but this is not”. Who came up with the idea of “intersectionality?” I bet you don’t know her, she is a professor of law (focusing on… race and gender issues) at UCLA. She has no particular record of success, other than she has held onto her job as a university professor since 1986, straight out of law school.
The religion is chaotic and self-contradictory in many places. Why, for example, is race a socially construct but at the same time, you cannot appropriate another race? This is a logical contradiction, it asserts both (A) and (Not A). For another example: why are women oppressed by society when ANYONE can choose to be whatever gender they want? Third example: why is it wrong to hold believe certain things are true about “the White Race” but it is deeply wrong and offensive to believe the SAME things about members of “the Black Race”?
The religion of the Elect explains almost nothing about the world and offers “solutions” which are provably worse than what exists in the US and the UK today. The religion of the Elect has no forgiveness, no redemption, and really, no hope for the future.
The Christians used to quote from the New Testament: “Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?” I think it is a good way to judge a religion: how well does it work?
The religion of the Elect does not work at all.
